Shenandoah Welcomes Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Xueyuan Xu and Delegates

Shenandoah University (SU) and President Tracy Fitzsimmons, Ph.D., were honored to welcome Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Xueyuan Xu and her delegates from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, and to celebrate the artistry of Shenandoah Conservatory Chinese D.M.A. students and their collaborators in a special showcase recital last week.

In collaboration with Shenandoah Conservatory Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Professor of Dance Ting-Yu Chen ’19, Ed.D., and music faculty, SU Chinese D.M.A. students presented a short concert to welcome these special guests. This concert showcased the musical talents of Shenandoah’s Chinese students, as well as their peers and professors. Minister Xu also presented on China-U.S. relations and people-to-people exchange. A Q&A with the audience followed.

This relationship-building effort extended from the initial invitation the Embassy extended to Shenandoah Conservatory Chinese Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) students and their performance for the Chinese New Year celebration in January.
