Center For Entrepreneurship Offers Free Microlending Webinar, Oct. 30

Learn How To Utilize Microlending For Nontraditional Smaller Loans

The Shenandoah University Center For Entrepreneurship will offer a free webinar, “What is Microlending?” for entrepreneurs and small business owners on Monday, Oct. 30, from noon to 1 p.m.

Hosted by Associate Professor Management Montressa Washington, Ph.D., the webinar is designed to introduce entrepreneurs and small business owners to financial and funding options through microlending.

Microlending is a method of issuing small loans – called microloans – to small business owners. Borrowers may consider microloans when they do not have access to local financial institutions, if they have poor credit or if they want a loan smaller than what their bank will allow.”

Financial Experts Stephen Davis & Ryan Hall

The webinar will feature financial experts Stephen Davis, president of the Community Investment Collaborative of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Ryan Hall, director of growth and revenue at Shenandoah Community Capital Fund (SCCF) of Staunton, Virginia.

Davis brings a decade of experience in organization building, management, consulting and education to guide the next generation of entrepreneurs in Central Virginia with training, financing and mentoring.

Hall, an entrepreneurial ecosystem builder, designs and pilots new programs with entrepreneurial partners across the region to help fill any existing gaps within the region’s ecosystem.

Investors often turn to microloans to earn higher rates of return and diversify their portfolios across different types of debt and different loans. However, microloans are not without risks, which is why it is so important for borrowers and investors to understand the risks and rewards before engaging.”

– Dr. Montressa Washington
