Shenandoah’s BSN Ranks First Among Virginia’s Private Universities

RNCareers Finds Nursing Program To Be One Of Virginia’s Best

RNCareers 2024 Best Nursing School graphicShenandoah University’s Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing is the number one Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at a private university in Virginia, according to RNCareers.org and a recent announcement by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia, published on the Virginia Chamber website.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of the top nursing programs in Virginia,” said School of Nursing Dean Lisa Levinson, Ph.D., MSN, RN. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. At Shenandoah, we strive to provide a nurturing and challenging environment that equips our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their nursing careers.” Along with being the top private university BSN program in Virginia, Shenandoah ranks fourth among all of Virginia’s nursing schools in RNCareers’ list.

Shenandoah BSN graduates’ first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Exam was 98.25% in 2023, surpassing the national first-time passing rate of 90.17%. In July 2024, the nursing school announced that graduates had a 100% NCLEX pass rate for the fourth consecutive quarter. Professional exam pass rates for SU’s graduate nursing programs are routinely close to or at 100%.

Shenandoah’s nursing school offers an array of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including traditional, transfer and accelerated second degree BSN programs, as well as graduate Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse-Midwifery, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.
