Taylor Bullis ’25 Named First-Year Teacher of the Year at Admiral Byrd Middle School

Taylor Bullis - First-Year Teacher of the Year at Admiral Byrd Middle School

Taylor Bullis ’25, has been honored as the 2025–2026 First-Year Teacher of the Year at Admiral Byrd Middle School in Winchester, Virginia.

Even so, she acknowledges that being a first-year teacher isn’t easy. “Every day you make mistakes, question yourself, learn something new, and experience something you’ve never experienced before.”

Bullis’s influence at Admiral Byrd Middle School extends far beyond the walls of her classroom. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she took on the role of cheerleading coach, a position that allowed her to connect with students in a different, yet equally meaningful, way.

She credits Shenandoah for equipping her with the tools to thrive. “My professors, coaches and mentors at SU taught me to build a community and lean on them for support and guidance, which has been crucial for me this year. I am able to be the best teacher I can be because I learned from the best people SU has to offer.”
