Theatre Students and Faculty Present Stage Combat Demonstration at The Village at Orchard Ridge

Several Shenandoah Conservatory theatre students presented a stage combat demonstration at The Village at Orchard Ridge on April 1, as part of a community outreach event organized by Associate Dean for Faculty & Academic Affairs and Professor of Theatre Carolyn Coulson, Ph.D. Adjunct Instructor of Theatre Kit Wilder, B.A., served as host for the event.

Students, alongside Dr. Coulson and Wilder, performed a series of choreographed fight sequences drawn from Shakespeare, including the final Macbeth/Macduff battle from “Macbeth,” the central fight scene from “Romeo and Juliet” and the climactic duel from “Hamlet.” The demonstration offered audiences insight into the technique, precision and storytelling involved in staged combat.
