Associate Professor of Bassoon Ryan Romine, D.M.A., recently presented and performed at the annual conference of the International Double Reed Society (IDRS), held July 7-11, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. On July 7, Romine presented a session on important writings published in the society’s journal, The Double Reed, during his 14-year tenure as bassoon editor. On July 9, he performed the landmark “Sonata for Bassoon and Piano” by John Steinmetz, with the composer in the audience.
