The Leadership and Mentoring Program (LAMP) is a collaborative partnership, initiated in 2015, between the Shenandoah University School of Business, community, corporations, companies, industries, faculty and most importantly, students. The purpose of the program is to create platforms for student professional and personal growth as it relates to merging theoretical constructs with the business industry. This program connects and bridges the gap that sometimes occurs between the academy and the industry. LAMP provides a support system where ideas and professional experience can be exchanged in a nurturing and healthy environment. Students are encouraged to leverage LAMP mentors for career guidance, leadership development, career exploration and professional individual sponsorship.
I quickly found LAMP to be a great way for me to reestablish a connection with the Shenandoah University School of Business. The program has allowed me to leverage my industry insight to help accounting students navigate through they academic career and ready themselves for a career in public accounting. I quickly developed what I hope is a lasting relationship with my first mentee, James Turner. Additionally, through my connection with the LAMP program, I was introduced and subsequently hired by another SU grad for what started as an internship and turned into a full-time position with Huey & Associates.”
