The Center for Leadership in the Public and Nonprofit Sectors will serve as a resource for public and nonprofit organizations in the quad state area that extends from northern Shenandoah Valley to south central Pennsylvania along the I-81 corridor. The center will support the work of area organizations including local school systems, higher education institutions, nonprofit entities, and public sector agencies. Support will take a number of forms including convener, professional development, and technical assistance/research. The center will be housed at the School of Education & Human Development.
The center has a four-pronged mission:
- Service: Serve as a resource for the region’s public and nonprofit organizations
- University-Community Relations: Foster ongoing dialogue and collaboration with the region’s public and nonprofit organizations
- Program Quality: Ensure SEHD leadership programs are of high quality and aligned with current and anticipated needs in these sectors
- Research: Create opportunities for faculty and students to conduct field-based research in these sectors

Public Schools are better than ever–so why the national negativity? What is fueling it? Can we change it? The answer is yes–and the causes of the discontent will surprise you.
