Professional Highlights
I am a freshwater ecologist researching how biotic communities respond to broad-scale anthropogenic stressors like urbanization and climate change. Specifically, I study how stream benthic macroinvertebrate communities are impacted by habitat changes caused by invasive bivalves in urban and rural environments of temperate and tropical climates. I am interested in bridging the gap between science and the public. I have worked extensively with citizen-led bioassessment and management programs throughout the Great Lakes region and central New York. Recently, I have been interested in the green workforce, advising non-profit organizations on urban flooding mitigation strategies, including green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) installations (rain gardens, bioswales, etc.).
