Leigh Jenks received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Therapy degrees from Shenandoah University, completing her internship at Blue Ridge Hospice and Winchester Medical Center’s Pain Management Department. Jenks also has a Certificate in End-of-Life-Care Music Therapy from the Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy Institute and is a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery. She started the music therapy program at Blue Ridge Hospice, where she has been working for over twelve years. Her duties include direct patient service and case management, work in the bereavement department with co-facilitation of school groups, adult and child support groups, kids grief camp, public relations to expand services to the community and staff support. I have my bachelor’s and master’s of music therapy from SU and now I have the privilege of teaching here. For me it has come full circle. I love working with music therapy students and guiding them through their internship process.
