Conservatory Professional Highlights:
Since 2003, Luis Hernandez has performed with Afrobop Alliance, a Latin jazz group that one a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album of the year and was nominated for two Grammy® awards in 2008 for their recording, “Caribbean Jazz Project/Afrobop Alliance.”
Hernandez was also a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition in 2002.

Personal Quote:Teaching at SU has been a wonderful experience. I love the campus setting, and enjoy getting to know my students and helping to coach them as they learn to play America’s true musical art form, Jazz.
Personal Highlights:
I am blessed with my wife of nearly 20 years, Anomi, and our four children. I enjoy practicing mixed martial arts, serving/teaching at my church, Delray Baptist Church in Alexandria, and performing with great musicians.
