Dr. Johnson’s interests include spirituality in health, infectious diseases, new drugs, and pharmacy residency teaching certificate programs.

Personal Highlights:

Dr. Johnson is married to Dr. Gretchen Johnson who is also a pharmacist and teaches at Shenandoah University. They have 2 children, daughter-in-law, and their first grandchild. He serves as a Commissioned Ruling Elder (Lay Pastor) at Buckton Presbyterian Church in Front Royal, VA.

Professional Highlights:

Dr. Johnson has been a faculty member at the School of Pharmacy since 1999. His teaching and research include infectious diseases, spirituality in pharmacy, long-term care pharmacy practice, and new drugs. He is the editor of the first pharmacy textbook on spirituality. He is a regular speaker on new drugs and writes twice yearly new drug updates for the APhA publication Pharmacy Today. He practices at a continuing care community facility where he offers a pharmacy student rotation in whole person care. He teaches in infectious diseases and offers an elective in spirituality in patient care and geriatrics.
