Dr. Zhou is a Full Professor at the School of Economics and Management at Tongji University, having previously served as an Associate Professor (2014–2020) and Assistant Professor (2011–2014) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Antai College of Economics & Management. His international academic background includes roles as a Senior Researcher at Dartmouth College, a Visiting Scholar at UC San Diego. Beyond his teaching and research, Dr. Zhou serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Electronic Commerce Research (SSCI), has served as Associate Editor for major international conferences including ICIS and INFORMS CIST, and holds leadership roles as a council member for the Management Science and Engineering Society of China.

Dr. Zhou’s research spans business analytics, financial technology (FinTech), quantitative finance, the economics of information systems, and supply chain management. His work extensively utilizes machine learning and data mining to investigate algorithmic trading strategies, cross-market pairs trading, personal credit default prediction, and consumer complaint text analytics. In the realm of information systems economics and risk, his scholarship examines market dynamics between open-source and proprietary software, lock-in strategies, software patent scope, and shared information security risk ratings. Supported by multiple National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grants, his findings have been widely published in leading management and information systems journals, including Information Systems Research, Marketing Science, and Production and Operations Management.
