Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Certificate

The Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Certificate is for registered nurses who already hold a Master of Science in Nursing. Our program provides you with the necessary education, competencies, and experiences to assume the role of a primary health care provider in a variety of clinical settings through both didactic and clinical courses.

Synchronous online courses meet one day a week. An immersion experience is required during the fall term at the Winchester main campus.

Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Certificate

Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioners Post Graduate Certificate is for registered nurses who already hold a Master of Science in Nursing. Our program provides you with the necessary education, competencies, and experiences to serve as educators, consultants, health care providers, therapists and researchers to enhance life quality for individuals with mental illness, and to prevent mental illness in high risk populations such as children, the elderly and those with co-occurring medical illness and/or substance abuse.

Synchronous online courses meet once a week. An immersion experience is required during the fall term at the Winchester main campus.

Nurse-Midwifery Post-Graduate Certificate

Shenandoah’s Nurse-Midwifery Post-Graduate Certificate program is for registered nurses who already hold a Master of Science in Nursing. Our program prepares you with the necessary skills and knowledge to lead the profession in the promotion of high quality midwifery care. Nurse-midwives are advanced practice nurses who provide family-centered primary health care to women throughout their reproductive lives, including counseling and care during pre-conception, pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum periods. 

Synchronous online courses meet one day each week. An immersion experience will be required during the fall and spring term at the Winchester main campus.

Midwifery Initiative

The Midwifery Initiative is a collaborative arrangement between the SU Nurse-Midwifery program and other designated schools of nursing. Through the initiative, graduate nursing students attending participating schools complete 26 credit hours of graduate nurse-midwifery courses from Shenandoah University and receive their graduate degree from their home school of nursing.

Through the initiative, graduate nursing students attending participating schools complete graduate PMHNP course work from Shenandoah University and receive their graduate degree from their home school of nursing.
