David Greenberg Appointed Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre – Sound Design & Reinforcement

Shenandoah Conservatory announces the appointment of David Greenberg, M.F.A., as visiting assistant professor of theatre – sound design and reinforcement, beginning this month.

“I’m excited to be joining the faculty at Shenandoah University and becoming part of the family,” said Greenberg.

Greenberg is a sound designer and composer from Plantation, Florida, by way of Knoxville, Tennessee, who enjoys collaborating on projects to include sound as an additional character to drive the narrative.

“We are very pleased that David will be joining us this fall at SU,” said Theatre Division Co-chair, Director of Theatre Design & Production, Associate Professor of Theatre and Costume Design, and Costume Designer Cheryl Yancey, M.F.A. “We think he will connect with the students and his colleagues in a very dynamic way.”

He most recently served as the resident sound designer and sound supervisor for DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvania Shakespeare Theatre. Greenberg is an early career member of the Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA).

“Having David join our faculty is very exciting,” said Director and Associate Professor of Music Production & Recording Technology Golder O’Neill ’92, M.M.E. “David brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our conservatory community, we look forward to having him join us.”

He received his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre at the University of Tennessee and his Master of Fine Arts in Theatre: Sound Design and Technology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

His theatrical career began in high school as an actor and general technician. Once he traded onstage for offstage, Greenberg worked as a shop hand, general rigging operator, mixing engineer and freelance composer. He uses the many aspects of theatre to encompass audiences in his music and designs through collaboration with fellow artists.
