The Shenandoah Conservatory music therapy program celebrates 30 years of Chimers at Shenandoah University this year. VSA Chimers was established in 1994 under the direction of Clinical Training Director Suzanne Rohrbacher, MT-BC, as a Suzuki tone chime choir composed of adult musicians with various disabilities and Shenandoah University music therapy students, who perform together on campus and in the community each semester. In 2012, the Chimers partnered with NW Works to further expand Chimers, which currently consists of more than 50 community and student members. Under the direction of Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music Therapy Musicianship Fredrica Dooley-Brown ’11, ’19, M.M.T., MT-BC, the NW Works Chimers will present a special 30th anniversary concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, in Armstrong Concert Hall.
