On April 8, Kristen Lloyd (C ’99) was named the director of the Johnstown Christian School Handbell Choir at First Lutheran Church in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  

Dan Shores (C ’99) and Ragnheiður Jónsdóttir won a 2025 Icelandic Music Award for Producer of the Year. 

Oneika Phillips (B ’00 & C ’00) performed as Queen Gertrude in “A Room in the Castle” at Folger Theatre in Washington, D.C. 

Jonathan and Brandy NoyalasOn Jan. 31, Jonathan Noyalas (AS ’01) and his wife, Brandy Noyalas (AS ’02) published a new book to educate young readers on the nuances of Civil War history entitledA Civil War Journey at Cool Spring: A History for Young Learners.” (pictured right)

On April 3, Tyson Thompson (AS ’03) received a Dawbarn Education Award which included $10,000 for his work at Ware Elementary School in Staunton, Virginia.

Brittany Bowers (AS ’20) was selected as Ms. Virginia 2025 by the National Pageant system, United Crown America. 

Cole Vaughan (C ’23) is now on Broadway as Jewell Estes in the musical “Floyd Collins.” 

On March 28, Jay Daniels (ANG) performed a tribute concert entitled “Jersey Boys and Jersey Girls: Music Born in the Garden Stateat the Beach Haven Public Library in Beach Haven, New Jersey.

John “Jay” Garland Russell III (C ’64), of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on April 9, 2025.

Ronald “Ron” Ashby Dye (C ’67), of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on April 3, 2025.

Faculty Passing

Pauline Girdler Jones, former professor of education,  of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on April 3, 2025. (pictured left)
