Dear Alumni and Friends,
Just like the weather, this past weekend at Shenandoah was nothing shy of beautiful. Spring was in the air with students out and about throughout campus. The sun was shining bright for the groundbreaking of the third house in The Village, Dove’s Nest. This new residence hall was made possible by the generous contribution of Wilbur Dove ’59 and his wife, Clare. Wilbur is a valued member of the Shenandoah University Alumni Board of Directors and a Dayton alumnus. We also celebrated the Dayton Alumni Weekend and the 5th Annual Conservatory Alumni Reunion. There were so many wonderful events in both Dayton and Winchester, which I hope you were able to attend. If you were unable to attend, keep your eyes peeled for the details on next year’s events so you don’t miss out on the fun.
The month of April also marks the third annual Day of Giving. Day of Giving focuses on using social media to help engage alumni and other donors. I hope you all received your #thisiswhatahornetlookslike postcard in the mail, and be sure to snap a selfie of yourself after donating and post to social media using the above hashtag. I hope you will join me in giving back to the university on this special day, as we hope to make this the largest Day of Giving thus far. Day of Giving kicks off at noon on Thursday, April 26, and runs until noon on April 27. The Office of Annual Giving has come together with the Sports Management program and Associate Professor of Sports Management Fritz Polite to host a Day of Giving cookout at Sarah’s Glen from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 26. Please join us for some free food, prizes and fun!
