Trammell Anthony ’22 always had a passion for technology, but it was at Shenandoah University that he learned how to turn that passion into a successful career. Attracted to the university’s close-knit community and its commitment to providing a personalized education, Trammell quickly recognized that Shenandoah was the ideal place to build both his academic and professional future.
“I chose Shenandoah because it felt like a place where I could not only get a higher education but also connect with professors who genuinely cared about my success,” said Trammell. “The smaller class sizes and hands-on support allowed me to build solid foundations for my career and helped me learn how to manage my time and responsibilities effectively.”
After graduating, Trammell began his career as an IT specialist at the Bank of Clarke, where he addresses day-to-day technical issues, designs internal web applications, manages company data, and automates various bank processes. In just a year, his hard work earned him a title change, a raise, and the Process Innovation Award. His success in the field reflects the skills and values he honed at Shenandoah, where discipline, consistency, and time management were key lessons that helped him thrive.
Trammell’s story is a testament to the power of a supportive, hands-on education at Shenandoah University, where he built the foundation for his successful career in technology.
“Shenandoah taught me how to be consistent in everything I do—whether it was in class, on the field, or in my career,” he said. “That consistency is what helped me transition into the professional world and continue to succeed.”
Trammell encourages current and future students to be patient with the learning process. “Don’t rush the knowledge,” he advised. “It might not all make sense right away, but as you keep learning, it will all start to click.”
