Dear Alumni and Friends,
Homecoming 2018 was one for the books. Gorgeous weather, delicious food and drink, and time well spent with old and new friends. From the Alumni Celebration Dinner to the Buzzy Statue Unveiling Ceremony to an exciting win over Hampden-Sydney, I don’t think we could have asked for a better weekend. Friday I was unable to attend the Class of 1993’s time capsule opening, but I enjoyed watching the Facebook Live feed before the awards dinner.
Thank you to the Office of Alumni Affairs for putting together an amazing weekend, and thank you to all of our alumni who were able to attend. I hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I did and were able to reconnect with classmates and friends. The Buzzy unveiling may have been my most enjoyable moment of the weekend. I was able to watch the surprise, as Jim and Janet Davis were there to accept the statue being unveiled in their honor. If you haven’t already seen the bronze Buzzy in person, it’s worth a trip to campus just to see him! Buzzy is ten feet tall and ten feet wide. What a sight to see as you walk into the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center!
Coming up in just a few weeks on Monday, Nov. 5, is the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, who will play at 7 p.m. that evening in the Wilkins Athletics & Events Center. This event is sure to provide plenty of entertainment for the entire family, and will be the first globally branded sports and entertainment event in the region hosted by Shenandoah. Tickets are still available, so buy yours today!
