Dear Alumni and Friends,
Happy Summer from the Shenandoah Valley! I hope yours is off to a great start, and that you’re able to take some time to relax and enjoy fun vacations and other events over the next few months.
But before we get to all the amazing things the Shenandoah University Alumni Association has planned for you over the summer, I want to take some time to give a special welcome to the more than 1,200 new alumni we welcomed into the alumni association on May 18. Commencement 2019 was a whirlwind, and the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center was packed to the brim with graduates, university faculty and staff members, and of course, proud parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins… so many family members present to cheer on our new group of graduates. Congrats, Class of 2019, and welcome to our alumni ranks!
I hope that you have your calendars marked for some fun alumni events coming up this summer! In just a few weeks, we’ll have our first-ever Shenandoah University Night at D.C. United event on Friday, July 12. We’re so thankful that Shenandoah alumnus Tristan Atterbury ’17, who works for the D.C. United in their group events & hospitality office, is hosting his Hornet family for this fun event, which begins at 7 p.m.
And, of course, we continue the tradition of our Swarm the Park events, with alumni meet ups at Kings Dominion on Saturday, July 20, and Hersheypark on Saturday, Aug. 10. These are always such fun events, so be sure to get your discounted tickets today!
Again, I hope you’re having a wonderful start to summer!
Ashley Smith Warren ’07
