Hello!
February has started with a bang! Let’s see, Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day is coming up, and we’ve had lots of snow! Here in Winchester we have had snow and cold temperatures, with more snow on the way this week. I don’t know about you, but I am already looking forward to spring!
February 1st marked the beginning of the spring semester at Shenandoah. It’s wonderful to drive by campus and see lots of activity. A snowstorm caused the first day of classes to be virtual but otherwise the semester is in full swing.
Have you read the articles and newscasts about the partnership between Shenandoah and Valley Health? The Wilkins Athletics & Events Center has been a POD for the COVID vaccines in the Lord Fairfax Health District. Every day, hundreds of vaccinations are being administered. It is an extremely well-organized effort between the three entities – Shenandoah, Valley Health, and the Lord Fairfax Health District. Please read the articles and watch the newscasts – I know you will be very proud of your alma mater!
On another note, be sure to read your emails from the Alumni Association! There are many upcoming virtual events that you might want to attend. I have been very impressed with the webinar series that Shenandoah is partnering with – there are some interesting webinars scheduled for this spring. Stay tuned for more information about alumni meet-ups scheduled for later in the spring.
Amidst our virtual Christmas, New Year’s and other events, we will be welcoming a new grandson to our family in April! It is his birth and all the surrounding events that are a beacon of hope for us. We are so fortunate that our daughter Facetimes us every evening to keep us connected to our grandchildren. What about you? How are you keeping connected to family and friends? Phone calls, Facetime, Google meets, and Zoom connect us both in our professional and personal lives. I hope you’re able to stay connected with those you love.
Spring is coming!
Best,
Susan Helsley
