Dear Alumni,
I have been honored to represent the Alumni Association at a few recent meetings. As a Shenandoah health professions student panel discussion was drawing to a close, a fellow attendee remarked “I know I would be in good hands if any one of you was providing my health care – our future is in good hands.” Our students exuded confidence in their skills and knowledge. They also attributed their success to the teacher–student relationship of shared success – the teacher genuinely cares for the whole student, their college experience, personal journey and earned success! It has been 30 years since I first graduated from Shenandoah and our buildings may have changed, our programs have expanded, some of the names of our professors and faculty may have changed (and some remain!), but the quality education and caring community remains top notch! I am proud to be a Hornet!
In the coming weeks, we will celebrate the Class of 2022 during graduation and hooding ceremonies. It will be an exciting time on campus and in the lives of students who are turning the page to their next chapter. As an alumni, you have access to Shenandoah’s Career and Professional Development which offers career exploration, experiential learning through internships, volunteer, summer and part-time opportunities, as well as resume building, interview skills workshops, graduate school search assistance, job search assistance and professional headshots. You will have a quality employee if you hire a Shenandoah student or alumni. Learn more at https://www.su.edu/career-services/career-services-alumni/.
I would love to hear from you and how your Alumni Association can better serve you. Email me at anne.lewis65@gmail.com!
