Dear Alumni,
Wow – what a weekend for the Conservatory Alumni Reunion (CAR) albeit a little cold and windy at times, but that is spring in Virginia! Special thanks our Office of Alumni & Constituent Relations staff Krista Humphries ’16, ’20, Harley Ryan ’16 and Ciarra Berry ’22 along with the many others who contributed to so many successful events.
From seeing people I did not expect to see to making new friends, time spent on Shenandoah’s campus always brings me a sense of centering. Shenandoah was a springboard in my professional career not once, not twice, but three times, each bringing me new experiences, tools to aid in my success and special memories. During CAR, I heard compliments about the university’s growth, continued appreciation for the talents of students and faculty and offers from alums to connect with current students. There was an energy about how alumni could contribute to their alma mater in meaningful ways.
If you have an idea of how you would like to give back to Shenandoah, please connect with me at anne.lewis65@gmail.com. In the meantime, there are two more opportunities for you to engage with Shenandoah this spring – Dayton Alumni Weekend (April 13 & 14), and the first-ever Black Alumni Reunion (April 21 & 22). Learn more about these events in this e-newsletter.
On a bittersweet note, we say farewell to our executive director Krista Humphries ’16, ’20 as she takes on a new professional opportunity, but we know as an alumna she too will return home to take part of Shenandoah festivities. Krista has been instrumental in several alumni initiatives for which we are grateful. We extend a warm welcome Dr. Greeley Myers who is no stranger to Shenandoah having served as the Assistant Vice President for Advancement since 2014. In his new role of Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving , we look forward to his guidance and ideas as Shenandoah approaches our sesquicentennial! Read more about Greeley below.
Greeley started his career in higher education in alumni relations at his alma mater, McMurry University, where he supervised the Alumni and Annual Giving office from 2005-2011. In this role he was responsible for the planning and implementation of alumni gatherings and annual alumni events, including McMurry’s well-known Homecoming events. Greeley was the staff representative for the McMurry Alumni Board of Directors where he helped with the revision of the bylaws and helped oversee the development of McMurry alumni clubs and chapters throughout Texas. This new role builds on Greeley’s extensive experience both in advancement and alumni work.
Warm Regards,
Anne
