Day Trip to Washington, D.C.

Day Trip to Washington, D.C. invites students to enjoy time in the nation’s capital on the Labor Day holiday. Meet in the Brandt Student Center rotunda at 9 a.m.; vans leave at 9:15 a.m. Do whatever you like; bring cash for lunch on your own. Vans leave D.C. at 4:30 p.m., heading back to Winchester. Dinner is provided on the way home. Shenandoah Community Chorus Auditions are from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Ruebush Hall, Room 148. Prepared selections are not required. Rape Aggression Defense Class

Rape Aggression Defense Class is from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Aikens Athletic Center conference room. This free class is held on four Tuesday nights: Sept. 2, 9, 16 and 23. R.A.D. classes are open to all Shenandoah women – students, faculty and staff – and are taught by certified R.A.D. instructors Adam Smith and Kelcey Webster, who are both Department of Public Safety officers. Women who took the RAD class in 2013-14 are welcome to take the class again for review or to attend the last session of each class, which is simulation. Simulation involves students using the techniques they’ve learned in class to fight off an aggressor in simulated real-life scenarios. Class size is limited.
