September Message From Susan Wyatt Helsley ’76, ’85

Dear Alumni and Friends,

It’s almost fall here in the Shenandoah Valley! The days and nights are getting cooler, a welcome respite from the heat of summer. I am beginning to see other signs of fall as I make my daily commute – leaves are beginning to turn colors and pumpkins are visible under their vines.

It’s been a busy time here at Shenandoah! Not long ago, we welcomed a new class of freshmen to campus and greeted returning students. Classes have begun, and the campus is buzzing with activity. I visited the conservatory last week, and rehearsals and lessons were already underway! It’s always a joy to hear music filling the halls – it reminds me of my days as a conservatory student.

The 2019-20 Performance Calendar is out – have you received a copy? If you haven’t already done so, look at all the concerts, plays and other performances offered this year, and plan a trip to Winchester! Be sure to check out other campus lectures, seminars and events – there really is something for everyone!

One important event that you don’t want to miss is Homecoming! What a great opportunity to visit with friends and classmates, attend performances, events and the tailgate before the football game! You can register online at http://www.su.edu/homecoming – it’s very quick and easy! Get your friends together and plan to visit Shenandoah for all or part of the weekend. Please put Oct. 2-6 on your calendar – I hope to see you there!

Best,
Susan Wyatt Helsley (C ’76, ’85)
