Move-In Day
On New Student Move-In Day, new residential students check in to their residence halls and will be greeted by a team of Shenandoah staff and students. Be sure to place a sign on your car’s dashboard with the name of your residence hall. Before packing your car, you should clearly label all belongings – boxes, suitcases, etc. – with your name, residence hall, and room number. After you move in, you are required to attend Navigator and Convocation.
New and returning Shenandoah students arrive on different days. Carefully read the schedule below. If your scheduled move-in is before move-in day, go directly to the Brandt Student Center to check in. Please direct any questions to reslife@su.edu.
What to Bring to your Residence Hall
Move-In Dates Updated:
- Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024 (8 a.m. – 12 p.m.) – New Student Move-In
Not interested in all of the Move-In Day noise and energy? Would you prefer to move yourself in? SU will host a sensory friendly move-in hour from noon-1 p.m. in which students and families can move their belongings in on their own while still allowing enough time to visit Navigator before it closes at 2 p.m. and attend New Student Convocation at 4 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024 (8 a.m. – 12 p.m.) – Returning Student Move-In
Any resident in need of returning to campus earlier than their official move-in date (August 21 for New Students and August 24 for Returning Students) will need to fill out the Early Arrival for Upcoming Term Request, located under Break, Shuttle & Roster Forms in your Housing Portal. Failure to fill out the early arrival form will result in your room not being ready, and you will be responsible for providing your own housing accommodations until your official move-in date.

Laundry Information
Our laundry provider is Caldwell and Gregory. All of our laundry rooms feature washers and dryers that can be operated via the Speed Queen app. This app allows you to select and pay for your wash and dry cycles straight from your student account. Each student has 100 loads of laundry added to their student account and can pay to add more loads as needed. The initial 100 loads is good for one semester, and any unused loads do not carry over — however, any loads that you purchase will. Do not create your own account; Caldwell and Gregory will do this for you, using your SU email address.
Student ID
Identification cards are issued during orientation for new students. If you do not receive your card during this time, you will need to go to the Auxiliary Services Office on the second floor of Cooley Hall, which is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. It’s easy to start your card process online ahead of your arrival on campus.
For more questions about laundry or ID cards, please contact Auxiliary Services at auxservices@su.edu.
Welcome Week and Navigator
Do you still need to take care of a few things when you arrive on campus? Navigator offers opportunities to take care of business with representatives from Campus Mail, the Department of Campus Safety (including parking permits), Financial Aid, Hornet Central, Information Technology, and more.
Welcome Week offers events for new students throughout the week. Meet new people, build community, and have FUN!
