Matteo Belli delves into visual arts, literature and drama as meaningful sources of inspiration for his creative process.
In October 2022, his duo-trio dom was released by the label EMA-Vinci on all streaming platforms. In April 2022, the multi-award-winning orchestral work “trame di sangue grigio” was premiered by the Peabody Symphony Orchestra during the Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Concert Series.
His music has been commissioned/performed by Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Florence, Italy), Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, Teatro Amazonas (Brazil), Dartmouth College (US), Fondazione Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte & Ensemble degli Intrigati (Montepulciano), Altre Voci Ensemble, Ensemble di Musica Contemporanea Dallapiccola, DMC Ensemble at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, DUOroboros, and Talea Ensemble (New York City).
Dr. Belli teaches composition lessons, instrumentation, counterpoint, notation and a listening lab at Shenandoah University. In 2022/23, he taught a course on contemporary classical music at the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University. He also works as a music director and accompanist in theaters, academia, churches and music programs.
